About Blako
Blako Industries is a well-established, privately held company,
founded in 1970. As a custom blown film extrusion
manufacturer of polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystyrene films,
Blako is known for exceptional service and high product quality.
Incorporated in the state of Ohio in February of 1970, Blako
began producing low density polyethylene (LDPE) blown film in July
of the same year. Initially, two production lines were installed
at our location at 10850 Middleton Pike in Dunbridge, Ohio in an
existing building of 11,500 square feet. This facility was well
suited for blown film production, and its location in the Toledo,
Ohio area allowed service to the industrial and commercial target
areas in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Western Pennsylvania, and Eastern
Illinois. This location remains the home of Blako Industries,
although the buildings now contain over 40,000 square feet.
Currently, Blako is capable of producing over 14 million pounds
per year of blown film, using LDPE (liner, clarity, EVA's), LLDPE
(Butene, Hexene, Octene), Polypropylene (Copolymer), and
Polystyrene from five
extrusion lines. Films can be supplied with color, antistat, flame
retardent, as well as a full range of slip and
antiblock packages. Specialty additives are available on request.
The addition of state-of-the-art Windmoeller & Hoelscher (W & H)
Optifil P blown film line in 1991, brought to the company the
distinct quality advantage of computer-controlled gauging that
remains unsurpassed in the industry.
Blako, under new management since 1996, increased its production
capacity in 1998 by upgrading the existing W & H line and adding
a second W & H line having coextrusion capabilities. This is in
direct response from our customers that have experienced the
advantages from the film produced from these lines and have asked
Blako to offer multi-layer film products.
